Power windows work properly, same with wipers, handbrake and a LOT of things that just don’t seem to work on many 40+ year old Lotus (and other) cars. But this car has been gone through with a lot of attention to detail and the results are fabulous.
All combined in a fast, smooth, refined package with superlative handling, sure braking, very rapid acceleration, and a remarkably high degree of comfort. Easy to service, parts availability is extensive, and for speed at or approaching the legal limits, hard to imagine a more fun classic sports car.
No expense was spared to restore this car to sensational condition. If there is a better Elan in the country, and I am sure there must be a few, they can’t be all that much better. And, no, I wouldn’t have the slightest qualms about hopping into this car and driving it anywhere.
I have tried to describe this car as best as I can. With perfect oil pressure and compression, no smoke under normal operating conditions, excellent transmission synchromesh, everything working, and everything that I can see or can be seen in these photos, I think a potential bidder can buy with confidence. If they get this car, they are getting one of the best Elans available anywhere.
